These simple, perfectly crispy Baked White Pepper Chicken Wings let both flavors really shine.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Add a beer, or maybe a big scoop of white rice, and you\u2019ll be wondering how these simple baked chicken wings can be so tasty.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>What does white pepper taste like?<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While freshly ground black pepper has a certain floral, pungent aroma, white pepper has an earthy, more uniformly hot\/spicy character that gets right to the back of the throat.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I think white pepper\u2019s heat gives it an edge relative to black pepper. We did some careful experimenting in the kitchen\u2014I\u2019m talking side-by-side, single wing comparisons with carefully controlled variables\u2014to create the right formula for perfectly crispy baked chicken wings:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b><b>Seasoning: <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s important to marinate the wings in advance for at least 20 minutes and then dredge them in a <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">seasoned<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> coating. Note, if you\u2019d like your wings less spicy, you can reduce the amount of white pepper. I\u2019ve provided a range in the recipe.<\/span><\/b><\/b>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li><b><b>Temperature<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: The oven should be HOT. 475 degrees F\/245 degrees C does the trick.<\/span><\/b><\/b>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Coating:<\/strong> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A mixture of flour and cornstarch makes for a great crisp coating. The cornstarch lends crispness, and the flour lends heft. Tossing the wings in the marinade bowl allows the flour to cling to them with the help of the liquid pooling in the bowl.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Brushing:<\/strong> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brushing the wings with a light coating of oil helps get the crisping process started.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Baking:<\/strong> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Parchment paper on the baking sheet prevents the wings from burning and cooking unevenly!
